What is a Pediatric Urologist?

A pediatric urologist is a surgeon that is specialized in treating conditions of the genitourinary tract in children under the age of 21.  Here at University Pediatric Urology, we manage a wide range of urologic conditions.  Below is a list of the most common conditions we manage.

What we manage

Bladder

Bedwetting, bladder abnormalities, exstrophy of the bladder, incontinence,  neurogenic bladder, recurrent infections, vesicoureteral reflux, voiding dysfunction, bladder diverticula, ureteroceles, urethral strictures, and bladder stones

Kidneys

Hydronephrosis, pyelonephritis, kidney stones, UPJ obstruction, solitary kidney, multicystic dysplastic kidney, renal cysts

Ureters

Obstruction, swelling or dilitation of the ureters, vesicoureteral reflux



 

Genitalia

Hernias, hydroceles, undescended testicles, chordee, elective and newborn circumcision, epispadias, hypospadias, intersex,  penile anomalies,  phimosis, testicular tumors, vaginal abnormalities, varicocele, testicle torsion, penile adhesions/foreskin bridges, circumcision concerns, meatal stenosis, labial adhesions

Other Conditions

Neonatal/pediatric urological obstruction, posterior urethral valves, nighttime and daytime wetting disorders, urinary tract infections, constipation, encopresis, neurogenic bowel and bladder, anomolies related to congenital adrenal hyperplasia.
